Dr. Terry H. Berner, Optometrist
Dr. Berner has been practicing at the Berner Eye Clinic for twenty years. Before entering private practice, Dr. Berner spent four years in the U.S. Army as Chief of an optometry clinic. He loves practicing optometry because every patient he sees becomes a new friend. He also likes challenges and enthusiastically works on patient problems from unusual eye diseases to complicated contact lens fits.
Originally from Iowa, Dr. Berner received his bachelors of science in professional chemistry from South Dakota State University and his MBA from Arizona State University. He attended Southern California School of Optometry and received his Doctor of Optometry in 1981. Dr. Berner has been a member of the American Optometric Association and Utah Optometric Association for 20 years. He was awarded Utah Optometrist of the Year in 1997 and has served as president for both the Utah Optometric Association and the Great Western Council of Optometry. He has served as an optometrist on a humanitarian trip to Ecuador and has plans for many more. Dr. Berner is also an active member of the Salt Lake City Rotary Club and is a retired LTC in the U.S. Army Reserve.
In his free time Dr. Berner enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, snow skiing, fishing, hiking, camping, racquetball, reading and watching his daughters play soccer and dance.

Dr. Karri A. Buresh, Optometrist
Dr. Buresh joined the Eye Clinic in May of 2005 and has joined the team in providing the best eye care and treatment possible. Dr. Buresh specializes in contact lenses, medical eye treatment, pediatric eye care and vision therapy. She is very active in promoting children's visual needs and loves seeing kids in her office.
Dr. Buresh is also an Iowa native and completed her bachelors of science at Iowa State University. (Go Cyclones!) She received her doctor of optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. (where she misses good Memphis barbeque!)
Dr. Buresh has been an active member of the American Optometric Association for ten years and joined the Utah Optometric Association in 2003. She was named "Young Optometrist of the Year" by the Utah Optometric Association in 2007 and is the state leader for the AOA's InfantSEE program. She has been an active member of Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity and has traveled to Belize and Costa Rica to provide free exams and give glasses to those in need. She is planning on traveling to Paraguay in June 2009 to provide eye care once again. Dr. Buresh serves on the Special Olympics Utah Board as Healthy Athletes Chairperson and is the Clinical Director for Opening Eyes, a program which provides free eye care and eyeglasses to Special Olympic athletes.
In her spare time, you can find Dr. Buresh with her husband skiing on Utah's great slopes, mountain biking up Millcreek Canyon or waterskiing on Utah lakes. She also enjoys scubadiving, yoga and traveling. |

Catherine "Cat" McVey - Vision Therapist
Cat is our vision therapist in office and is great with patients of all ages. She is excellent and keeping our kids on task and progressing smoothly through their course of vision therapy. With over 18 years experience in acute care neurologic rehabilitation, Cat also excels in assisting patients who have had a neurological insult such as a stroke or brain injury. When not in the office you can find her welding art, backcountry telemark skiing, mountain biking, canyoneering, or rolling sushi!

Cherie - Front Office Coordinator
The friendly face that welcomes you to the Berner Eye Clinic is Cherie at our front desk. She has the best sense of humor around and has been in the optical world for over 18 years. Cherie coordinates insurance benefits and billing and will help you get the coverage you deserve. She loves the friendly and relaxed atmosphere here at the clinic. In her spare time, you can find her enjoying good friends, good food, and good music. |

Corry - Patient Coordinator
Corry has joined the team at the Front Desk to help coordinate your appointment times at the clinic and to assist with your insurance needs. Corry enjoys life downtown and you'll always find him living in the spur of the moment. |

Cindy - Technician
Cindy is our energetic ABO certified optician, paraoptometric and contact lens technician. She began her career in the optical field in 1987 helping patients with eyewear and contact lenses. Cindy has been nationally certified by the American Board of Opticianry since 1995. She enjoys camping, ATV-ing, and spending time with her husband, dogs, children, and grandchildren. |

Jenni - Technician
Jenni is our friendly paraoptometric technician and contact lens specialist. She excels in patient care and takes pride in staying up to date on the latest technology in eye care. Jenni has had 3 years experience in the eye care field and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, target shooting, and spending time with her family.

Sylvia - Optician
Sylvia is a lively addition to our staff at the Berner & Buresh Eye Clinic. With 15 years of frames experience and excellent knowledge of lens technology, she will be able to assist you in finding the best eyewear for your individual needs. Our avid book worm, Sylvia also enjoys camping, hiking, and traveling with her husband. |
